Social media circulated a video claiming to show a Syrian helicopter being heavily fired upon in Iraqi skies, only for it to retreat and avoid the gunfire. However, investigations into the video's historical context revealed that it is old, dating back to 2016, and was previously published in 2023. The footage shows attacks on Iraqi military sites against ISIS in the Makhoul Mountains and indicates that the helicopter was Iraqi, not Syrian. The depiction of this incident comes at a time of escalating regional tensions, with the Iraqi government reaffirming its commitment to sovereignty and preventing attacks across Iraqi territory.
