Migration influx continues in Ceuta
Hundreds of migrants continue to attempt crossing the Spanish enclave of Ceuta in North Africa, amid an unprecedented crisis that has led to a massive influx and raised the death toll to 72 on the Spanish side and 11 in Morocco. Reports indicate that approximately 69,500 migrants have returned to Morocco over the past four days after thousands crossed the borders, while it is expected that between 3,000 and 5,000 will remain inside the enclave. Tensions between Spain and Morocco are increasing regarding the causes of the surge, with Ceuta accusing Morocco of allowing the crisis to occur, and Morocco blaming social media and human trafficking networks for inciting the wave. Meanwhile, border control measures remain hesitant, threatening the possibility of the crisis repeating itself in the future.
