Northern Ethiopia player map updates
The article addresses the developments in the conflict in northern Ethiopia, particularly in the Tigray region, where the federal government accuses its former allies—Eritrea and the Amhara militia Fano—of supporting the Tigray People's Liberation Front and of reshaping the military alliances in the area. It explains that Tigrayan forces seized territories along the Eritrean border in March 2025, and that Eritrea continues to control parts of the Afar and Sheraro districts, violating the ceasefire agreement. Eritrea and the Fano militia are also accused of financing and mobilizing forces, amid rising threats of a new war against Ethiopia, with various regional alliances offering differing degrees of support. The Ethiopian government has responded to these allegations, while sources suggest that the alliances of the Fano militias are shifting from cooperation with Addis Ababa to opposition—especially after their rejection of disarmament measures demanded by the central government.
