China sets safety standards for autonomous vehicles
China has issued a mandatory national standard specifically for safety requirements for Level 3 and Level 4 autonomous driving systems, set to come into effect in July 2027. The standard aims to enhance safety assurance throughout the vehicle's lifecycle and includes simulation and on-road testing. It emphasizes maintaining the vehicle's ability to monitor the driver's readiness and human-machine interaction. The standard also focuses on preventing misuse and ensuring the safe execution of dynamic driving tasks, while strengthening regulations for the entry of smart vehicles into the market to promote the development of safe and effective technologies.
