Examining women marrying Russian soldiers for benefits
The article sheds light on the death of Yuri, a Russian soldier who was killed after being shot in Ukraine, and the growing suspicion surrounding the exploitation of military death compensations by the "Black Widows," women who marry superficially to obtain financial benefits. Reports indicate cases of fraud and exploitation of the dangers of war through the organization of false marriages, where vulnerable men are lured into fake unions, only to be asked for compensation payments after their deaths in combat, raising concerns among Russian authorities about the abuse of the compensation system. The discussion clarified that the payouts start at $64,000 and are awarded to the family after the soldier's death, with investigations ongoing in some cases but no new details so far.
