Amman Meeting Denies Israel Jerusalem Sovereignty
A ministerial meeting hosted by Amman confirmed that Israel does not have sovereignty over occupied Jerusalem, and expressed support for the Hashemite custodianship over the city and its Islamic and Christian holy sites. The participants emphasized that East Jerusalem is part of the occupied Palestinian territories and that it remains the capital of an independent Palestinian state within the borders of 1967. They also reminded that Israeli assaults on holy sites threaten international peace and security. The statement called on the international community to take action to halt illegal Israeli measures, document violations, and establish a mechanism to address Israeli escalation in Jerusalem and all Palestinian territories.
