Egypt's Interior Ministry on Ride-Hailing Harassment
The Egyptian Ministry of Interior has revealed that the incident mentioned in the two circulating video clips, which involved accusations against a ride-hailing driver of assault and harassment, was false. It was found that the matter was a dispute over fare prices between the woman, her sister, and the driver. The woman falsely claimed that she had been harassed and that she was a journalist, while police investigations confirmed that she had not been assaulted and that the altercation began with her words and gestures, including obscene signals. The driver affirmed that it was she who initiated the confrontation. Legal procedures have been taken against both parties.
