The seventh round of negotiations between Lebanon and Israel concluded in Rome after several days, aiming to reach agreements on Israeli withdrawals from southern Lebanon and the return of displaced persons. Beirut sought a comprehensive ceasefire and an end to explosive operations, but Israel did not agree to these demands. Progress was revealed in discussions about a draft security agreement and Lebanon's efforts to request a new UN resolution. Efforts were also made to map the occupied areas and prepare a timeline for the withdrawal process, though disagreements persisted over verification mechanisms and the areas to be inspected. Sources confirmed that the next round could be held on September 1st, with ongoing US efforts to finalize the date. Meanwhile, Hezbollah criticized the negotiating authority’s policy, calling for an end to concessions that do not ensure Lebanon’s security and urging a review of financial and economic policies to alleviate citizens’ suffering.
