Fruit farmers in southern Lebanon, especially in the areas of Marjayoun, the Akar Plain, and Sarda, are facing their second consecutive season of losses due to military restrictions preventing them from accessing their lands for harvesting. This situation threatens their livelihoods and the future of their orchards. These conditions have caused fruit spoilage and crop losses, as well as the deterioration of the health of the trees, which require ongoing care such as watering, pruning, and fertilization—care that has been halted for more than two years. As a result, the trees are at risk of weakening and declining productivity. The Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture estimates the agricultural sector's losses at around 530.5 million dollars, with a direct impact valued at 41.2 million dollars, due to farmers being unable to harvest their produce. The continuation of the restrictions threatens further deterioration unless solutions are found to enable farmers to access their lands and preserve their orchards.
