The Israeli government continues to implement a settlement plan in the West Bank, which includes the construction of more than 1,200 housing units in the "E1" area near Jerusalem, with the aim of establishing a settlement bloc that connects East Jerusalem with the West Bank regions. This move is intended to divide the area into northern and southern sections, hindering the formation of a contiguous Palestinian state and separating East Jerusalem from the rest of the Palestinian territories. The plan has sparked widespread international condemnation, with the United Nations and the global community considering it illegal and a threat to the prospects of a two-state solution. Israel, meanwhile, has countered by stating that it has the right to build within its historic lands. This step follows the Israeli government's accelerated efforts to implement settlement projects despite international pressure and repeated criticism. It is regarded as one of the most significant measures that obstruct peace and contribute to the expansion of illegal settlements in violation of international law.
