Israel announced the start of a process to deliver five Lebanese civilians who were in its custody. Among them was Malik Kamal Ghazi, who lost contact in October 2025. Ghazi was handed over to the Lebanese army through the Red Cross after Israel transferred him at the Naharoura border crossing. This action is part of efforts to advance negotiations for prisoner exchanges and to locate the remains of Lebanese and Jewish victims who have been missing since the 1980s. Lebanese officials confirmed that the release was prompted by American pressure and that it represents progress in efforts to resolve the issue of prisoners and the missing. However, they also highlighted that Israel continues to violate the framework agreement signed in Washington, particularly through escalated bombings and occupation of areas in southern Lebanon.
