Unidentified projectile hits tanker in Strait of Hormuz
On Thursday, the oil tanker was subjected to an attack with an unidentified projectile while passing through the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in a fire on board, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations agency. The agency confirmed that the crew is safe, without specifying the type of tanker or its destination. It is worth noting that the Strait of Hormuz is a vital passage for about one-fifth of global energy supplies and is witnessing escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, with Iran obstructing navigation and firing at ships, while Washington imposes sanctions on Iranian ports.
