Ali Al-Amoudi targeted in Gaza attack
The Israeli army launched an attack on the Gaza Strip using helicopters and tanks in an attempt to assassinate Ali Al-Amoudi, who took over the leadership of Hamas in the Gaza Strip after Yihya Sinwar. Al-Amoudi is now effectively leading the sector following recent escalation events after Sinwar's assassination in October 2024, making him the most prominent leadership figure within Hamas in Gaza. He is known for being a member of Hamas's political bureau and was released from Israeli prisons in 2011 as part of a prisoner exchange deal. Since then, he has held significant leadership positions within the movement and the region.
