Al-Turba Under Houthi Control
The article discusses the Houthi group's control over the city of Tuba in Taiz Governorate, Yemen, and the impact of this on the local population and security and humanitarian conditions. After the group seized the city, their focus was on consolidating their influence through the killing of civilians and imposing their orders. Residents were forced to hide and turn off lights for fear of searches or arrest, amidst escalating clashes and shelling. The Houthis also attempted to use loudspeakers to demand the reopening of shops, but this was only achieved under threats of violence. As a result, residents restricted their movement and relied on stored food supplies or safe shelters, with many fleeing out of fear of looting or further military escalation. Due to the closure of main roads, the humanitarian situation worsens, with increasing difficulty in providing food and essential services. The city has become dark and isolated, with ongoing armed confrontations and the group's threats to routes connecting Taiz and Aden, which threaten to tighten their control over the city and the surrounding area.
