Ben Gvir oversees Jerusalem building demolition
The Israeli authorities demolished a five-story building in the Al-Tur neighborhood in East Jerusalem, which was inhabited by around 70 Palestinians, claiming that the construction was unauthorized. The demolition operation was overseen by National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, who confirmed that it was a step against illegal buildings and expressed his satisfaction with the decision to demolish. The operation was carried out during the early hours of the morning, causing terror among residents and restricting their freedoms as they gathered their belongings. Palestinian and Israeli critics have condemned the move, describing it as "forced eviction" and a "dangerous escalation" in the policy of demolishing homes. Over 360,000 Palestinians live in East Jerusalem, where Palestinians are facing a severe housing crisis due to the repeated eviction and demolition measures.
