Houthi Attacks Destroy Homes in Taiz
The Houthi attacks, backed by Iran, are escalating in the Yemeni city of Taiz, with shelling targeting homes, healthcare centers, and religious facilities, resulting in the death of five civilians and injuries to 17 over the past 24 hours. The group has employed various weapons, including artillery shells, mortars, Katyusha rockets, and drones, posing a threat to residents' lives and causing destruction of vital property. They also shelled Al-Safwa Hospital and other fields within the city and its countryside. This comes alongside a worsening humanitarian crisis, as the Houthis fired more than 180 projectiles in a single day. The suffering of the population has intensified due to shortages of basic goods and soaring prices, amid warnings of a deteriorating humanitarian situation and international calls to stop targeting civilian areas and to ensure aid access.
