Britain's Energy Crisis and Renewables
Britain is facing a severe energy crisis due to rising electricity and gas prices, increased pressures on households and industries, and its reliance on energy imports and external markets, especially during gas supply disruptions linked to the Iran war. Part of the problem stems from privatization policies that began in the 1980s, which led to underdeveloped infrastructure and unsustainable results in reducing prices and improving efficiency, along with a lack of investment in major networks. Experts propose models that combine central planning with private investment, along with some government assets, to reduce dependence on imported fuels and lower support for oil and gas companies, while addressing the challenge of providing clean and affordable energy without burdening households with higher costs.
