South Lebanon condemns Israeli strikes
The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Nabil El Arabi, confirmed that Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon are unacceptable and that Arab positions must go beyond mere condemnation to take practical steps in support of Lebanon. These steps include enhancing the capabilities of the Lebanese army and accelerating the return of displaced people to their villages. El Arabi visited southern Lebanon — his first visit to the south since assuming his position — with the aim of conveying a message of solidarity and understanding of the suffering caused by the repeated Israeli attacks, which have led to widespread destruction and the displacement of thousands. He emphasized the need to support Lebanon politically and militarily, work with the international community on reconstruction efforts, and focus on strengthening Lebanon's sovereignty, bolstering its army, and addressing security challenges amidst ongoing Israeli occupation and threats.
