DNA Sheds Light on Missing Syrians
For the first time, Syria has succeeded in uncovering the fate of missing persons after years of war through DNA testing, where the remains of three individuals were identified through genetic analysis. These cases, announced for the first time, represent a significant advancement in efforts to determine the fate of missing persons following prolonged conflicts, and they help Syrian families learn the fate of their loved ones despite the difficulty in accessing burial sites and the restrictions imposed by the war. These results constitute an important step toward providing answers to thousands of families who are still waiting to learn the fate of their loved ones who have been missing for years, with estimates of over 130,000 to 300,000 missing persons in the country.
