PHP flaw impacts majority of sites
A critical security vulnerability known as PHP2Shell has been uncovered, which allows attackers to carry out widespread attacks that could potentially affect nearly 70% of the internet. Cybersecurity experts, supported by artificial intelligence, utilized advanced tools such as openAI's GPT-5.6 models and Google's systems to detect these vulnerabilities at an unprecedented speed. These flaws can be exploited to access sensitive data and execute remote code. The vulnerabilities have led to the disruption of government and corporate websites worldwide, with the US National Security Agency warning of immediate updates or the shutdown of affected systems, following the release of urgent security patches for PHP. These vulnerabilities are considered some of the most serious in cybersecurity since the Heartbleed flaw in 2014, and are viewed as a turning point that could escalate into a global strategic threat.
