NASA develops rovers for lunar base
NASA is developing roving vehicles to support the establishment of a permanent base on the Moon, especially in the south pole region, with the goal of paving the way for sustainable human presence. The vehicles aim to test their ability to navigate rough terrains, withstand harsh lighting and temperature conditions, as well as improve the design of navigation, communication, and energy systems. Vehicles designated for transporting astronauts and equipment will arrive on the Moon ahead of some crewed missions as part of the Artemis program. They will support collecting the essential data needed to establish a permanent base, with the capability to travel 10 kilometers and carry loads of up to 80 kg.
