Herzog seeks new formula
Israeli President Isaac Herzog called on party leaders to put forward innovative ideas and solutions and move beyond their hard-line positions in order to form a new government and avoid another election. He said he would receive the official results on Wednesday and then begin consultations with them. The candidate tasked with forming a government will have up to 42 days to do so, while opponents of Benjamin Netanyahu are considering legislation that would allow the prime minister to be elected directly. This comes as neither Netanyahu’s camp nor his rivals have been able to secure a majority in the Knesset.
