Microsoft releases budget AI for security

Microsoft has unveiled a new artificial intelligence model for cybersecurity called MAI-Cyber-1-Flash, aimed at improving the detection and mitigation of security vulnerabilities more effectively and efficiently. The model boasts nearly 50% lower costs compared to competing models and delivers superior performance when integrated with OpenAI’s GPT-5.4, outperforming models such as Mythos 5, 3.5 Flash Cyber, and GPT-5.5 Cyber in performance tests. This model is part of the Project Perception initiative, which will enable the development of AI agents capable of automatically detecting and fixing vulnerabilities, while also expanding its use to enhance security operations management and reduce reliance on human expertise. A beta version is expected to be available at the beginning of August 2026. Through this, Microsoft aims to cut costs and boost efficiency in the cybersecurity sector.
