UN calls for stability before Libya's constitution

The article discusses the international community's efforts, particularly those of the United Nations, to achieve political stability in Libya and to resolve the issue of the permanent constitution. It points out that the main dispute revolves around how to end the transitional phase and conduct a referendum on the draft constitution, which was completed in 2017. Some parties oppose dealing with it, arguing that political stability must be established before making a final decision. The discussion emphasizes the importance of presenting the constitution to the people for their expressed will, with the international community reaffirming its support for these efforts, despite ongoing disagreements over the options on the table—such as holding elections first or approving the constitution before elections. There is a consensus on the need to establish a legal framework that ensures the stability of Libya’s political system.
