Mahdi Tahrirat, a former defender of the Algerian national team, announced his retirement from football at the age of 36 after an approximately 15-year career. His journey included playing for European and Asian clubs, during which he won the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2021 Arab Cup with the national team. He explained that his decision was due to family reasons, particularly to be closer to his parents in Paris, and not because of a decline in his technical performance. He played 19 international matches and considered his time at Racing Club de Lens to be the most important period of his life. He is currently planning to continue studying and work in the sports field, with aspirations to become a sports director in the future.
