Scientists Confirm Climate Link to Europe's Heatwave
Climate scientists have stated that the historic heatwave affecting Western Europe would have been impossible without climate change caused by human activities, with nighttime temperatures rising a hundred times more than two decades ago. Britain recorded its highest temperature in June, leading to fatalities, disruptions to electricity supplies, and the closure of institutions. An analysis also showed that 45% of European cities have experienced or will experience high levels of heat stress due to this changing climate. They confirmed that global warming intensifies and increases the frequency of heatwaves and their health consequences, especially with rising nighttime temperatures and ongoing concerns about their impacts.
