Member of Parliament Suleiman Wahdan called for a comprehensive review of the system for registering and activating mobile lines and electronic wallets to ensure that citizens' data are not used without their knowledge or consent. He emphasized that citizens who did not request a line or sign a contract should not bear any legal or financial consequences resulting from others using their data. He also pointed out that registering a mobile line with incorrect information poses a risk to society, as it can be exploited to create fake accounts, commit fraud and scams, and spread rumors—especially when linked to an electronic wallet involved in financial transactions and transfers. Wahdan urged reviewing all complaints and reports related to lines registered in citizens’ names without their knowledge, identifying responsibility for any negligence, and enabling citizens to view all their registered numbers and promptly cancel any unwanted service. These measures are essential to protect digital identity and societal security.
