The Spanish city of Ceuta is facing a major humanitarian crisis due to increased irregular migration flows. Thousands of migrants, including many minors, are stranded in the streets and on beaches because of overcrowded reception centers and their inability to accommodate them. The death toll from attempting to cross the sea has also risen. The Spanish government has repatriated most of the migrants to Morocco, but around 2,500 still endure harsh conditions. Local officials are urgently calling for government intervention and have acknowledged that the situation is unsustainable. In response, authorities have announced a budget of 25 million euros to support the care of unaccompanied minors, while the international community faces escalating security and humanitarian challenges along the European Union's borders with Africa.
