Satellite images show Gaza destruction
Recent Google images reveal the extent of the widespread destruction caused by the war on Gaza, which began three years ago, especially since a fragile ceasefire came into effect about a year ago. The images show extensive devastation in northern towns such as Beit Lahia and Beit Hanoun, with entire areas wiped out and main neighborhoods like Jabalia and Shujaiya rendered uninhabitable. They also depict vast stretches of land covered with tents along the coast near the water, along with the deterioration of the Gaza Port, once bustling with activity, and widespread destruction in the city of Rafah and the Tel al-Sultan neighborhood, which have been reduced to rubble. The images confirm that Israeli forces have virtually cleared everything in the border areas with Egypt, reflecting ongoing destruction, as negotiations over reconstruction have failed. Israeli airstrikes continue amid these efforts. Palestinian authorities report that more than 74,000 people have been killed in the war that erupted after Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which has resulted in 1,400 Palestinian deaths since the ceasefire went into effect. Meanwhile, the Israeli military states that four of its soldiers have been killed during the same period.
