The UAE football season saw a decline in the presence of Emirati referees on the field, with greater reliance on foreign officials to manage matches, especially in the ADNOC League and local cup competitions, in order to benefit from international expertise. Nevertheless, some local referees continued to stand out, most notably Omar Al Ali, who officiated 17 matches and was selected to participate in the 2026 World Cup, reflecting the development of Emirati refereeing at both continental and international levels. On the other hand, dependence on foreign referees for Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology increased, with 50 matches managed by both Ingol and Igor. Meanwhile, Emirati referees are working to strengthen their presence both domestically and continentally.
