Syrian Foreign Minister Assad Shihabi re-opened the Syrian embassy in Tripoli after nearly 14 years of closure in 2012, aiming to strengthen diplomatic relations and organize the conditions of Syrians in Libya. The opening ceremony was attended by Arab and foreign ambassadors and officials. Shihabi emphasized the importance of activating cooperation between the two countries, including revitalizing maritime and air transport links, establishing a higher joint committee for cooperation, and signing a new agreement to enhance bilateral collaboration, as part of efforts to restore Syria's diplomatic presence after years of interruption due to the Syrian crisis.
