Britain faces train disruptions from bed bugs
Bed bugs have spread on British South Eastern trains, leading to the cancellation of several journeys, according to The Daily Telegraph. The problem first arose at the West Marina depot near Hastings on September 22, when insects were discovered inside the driver's cabins and within passengers' belongings, prompting drivers to refuse to enter those compartments. In some cases, drivers requested full protective suits that were not available, resulting in the cancellation of some services. Passengers dubbed one train the "Fast Bed Bug Train" because it continued to carry passengers even after the insects were found, although the source of the bugs was not the passenger cars themselves. Specialized pest control teams are currently working to find a solution, knowing that eradicating bed bugs is a costly process that requires significant human effort.
