Libya Tripoli hit by floods and rainfall
Heavy rains in the city of Tripoli and the western Libyan coastal areas have resulted in the death of three people and injuries to others. The flooding has submerged streets, led to the closure of main roads, and disrupted traffic flow. Emergency and rescue teams have been mobilized, with the Red Crescent Society raising the state of emergency to the highest level, confirming that one of the fatalities was due to electrocution. Sewer systems are struggling to drain water efficiently, which has caused water accumulation and worsened the crisis. Government equipment has been dispatched to help open roads and minimize damage. Some municipalities are criticizing central governments for repeated neglect and are calling for the implementation of sustainable systems to address the issue of rainwater drainage.
