Trump's Impact on Washington's Map
The United States celebrates its 250th anniversary. According to the Associated Press, President Donald Trump has implemented radical changes in Washington, D.C., including placing his images on buildings, demolishing and altering historic landmarks, launching extensive construction projects, and deploying National Guard troops continuously since August 2025 to combat crime. Their presence has become a daily part of the city’s landscape. Trump also initiated efforts to reduce the size of the government and change the city’s symbols, such as repainting the Lincoln Memorial and proposing a plan to build his own version of the Arc de Triomphe. Meanwhile, construction at the White House and other symbolic changes continue, reflecting his influence on the nation’s capital.
