Israel alerts US on Hamas disarmament
Israel has confirmed that it conveyed to Washington its security concerns regarding the demilitarization agreement with Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Estimates indicate that Hamas still remains committed to rebuilding its military capabilities rather than truly relinquishing weapons. Israel emphasized that it will not withdraw from the area before Hamas abandons its arms, warning that any premature withdrawal could allow the group to expand its presence and rebuild its terrorist infrastructure, thereby exposing Israeli communities to new risks and possibly leading to an attack similar to that of October 7. The agreement announced this week includes measures to dismantle Hamas's armed capabilities, along with a ceasefire and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the area, replaced by a new Palestinian administration.
