Wales withdraws backing for Infantino amidst World Cup rights issues
The article highlighted that the Welsh Football Association withdrew its support for Gianni Infantino's bid for the FIFA presidential elections from 2027 to 2031, weakening his chances of securing a fourth term. The decision followed a setback in FIFA's plan to sell part of the commercial rights to the World Cup, which aimed to raise approximately $4.2 billion. However, the plan was canceled due to widespread opposition. The Welsh FA expressed a loss of confidence in Infantino's leadership amid governance and stakeholder management issues, reflecting escalating criticism within the international organization and raising concerns about the withdrawal of support from more associations and the possibility of ongoing investigations.
