Houthi Attacks Endanger Yemeni Stability

Yemen has witnessed a serious military escalation carried out by the Houthi group, which launched widespread attacks on camps belonging to government forces in Marib and Hadramout provinces using rockets and drones. These attacks resulted in the death and injury of dozens of Yemeni soldiers, with initial reports confirming at least 45 military casualties. This escalation comes after security and military successes achieved by the Yemeni government against smuggling and terrorism elements. The Houthis aim with these attacks to confuse the government forces and send a message about their ability to expand the confrontation, especially amid increasing threats to commercial routes in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, which jeopardize international navigation and underscore the group's links to the Iranian project. Analysts also believe that this escalation reflects an attempt by the Houthis to exploit periods of calm to reposition and strengthen their military capabilities, while the Yemeni government continues its efforts to achieve stability, condemning the group's attempts to hinder peace efforts and political initiatives.
