The article focused on Israel's military escalation in southern Lebanon, where Israel carried out airstrikes and persistent artillery shelling on multiple areas, including the town of Al-Mansouri and other villages. This was in response to the incident of two Israeli soldiers being killed in Majdal Zoun by an explosive device. Through this escalation, Israel is attempting to demonstrate its strength, record field gains, and strengthen its negotiating position, rather than necessarily seeking a clear defeat of Hezbollah. Israel is working to establish new rules of engagement based on doubling the costs of any military operation against its forces, gradually expanding the scope of military responses, aiming to secure its presence in strategic areas and achieve long-term deterrence—all while maintaining political and military pressure on Lebanon during ongoing negotiations.
