The head of Ecuador's intelligence agency, Michel Senci Contogui, his American wife, four other American citizens, and the Kenyan pilot were all killed in a helicopter crash in the Samburu region of central Kenya. The helicopter, an EC-130-B4 model, was carrying passengers on a leisure trip and crashed near Mount Ololokwe, about 250 kilometers north of Nairobi. The accident was caused by a collision, followed by a fire that broke out after the crash. Search and rescue efforts are facing difficulties due to the rugged terrain and the ongoing fire. American and Kenyan authorities continue their investigations and follow-up.
