U.S. sanctions on Iran sectors
The United States has imposed new sanctions on Iran's railways and automotive sectors, as well as on foreign suppliers to these sectors, with the aim of isolating Tehran economically and undermining its funding sources for war, missiles, and cyberattacks. The sanctions target companies such as Iran Khodro and Saipa, which account for more than 90% of the Iranian car market, as well as important transportation companies like Iranian Railways and Reka for Passenger Services, in an effort to reduce the Iranian regime's revenues and tighten the grip on its economy. These measures are part of the "Economic Exclusion" plan announced by Washington in August, aimed at targeting and draining Iran's resources comprehensively, with warnings about high costs for Iranian citizens.
