France shuts many high schools amid violence
Wide student protests have taken place across France, leading to the closure and organized acts of violence in more than 560 high schools nationwide. Students set fires outside schools and confronted the police, protesting against poor studying conditions, including long school hours, high temperatures, and lack of resources. The clashes resulted in injuries to dozens of students and administrators, as well as damage to the entrances of several schools, with security tensions spreading in major cities like Paris, Rennes, and Brest. The government announced that the protest movement has been taken over by violent groups and called on parents to take greater responsibility. Meanwhile, dialogue efforts between the Ministry of Education and unions continue in an attempt to find solutions.
