Dozens of journalists gathered in Cairo to protests against the detention of six members of the independent platform "Matssadsh" team, which investigates Egyptian and Arab content. The authorities accuse them of being "unlicensed" and operating from abroad, as well as linking them to the terrorist group of the Muslim Brotherhood. These arrests come as part of the Egyptian government's escalation of pressure on the media, amid widespread criticism from international and local human rights organizations. The number of detained journalists has risen to 26, reflecting a deterioration of press freedom in Egypt, which ranks 169th globally.
