Research Shows Universal Diabetes Benefits
A recent study revealed that continuous glucose monitoring devices, which are typically used by insulin-dependent diabetes patients, may also benefit individuals with type 2 diabetes who do not require insulin. The study showed that using the Dexcom G7 device for six months resulted in a decrease in the average hemoglobin A1c levels from 8.8% to 7.2%, compared to a reduction from 8.7% to 8% in the traditional care group, with an improvement of nearly 1% after adjusting for risk factors. Additionally, 97% of participants continued daily device use by the end of the study, and glucose levels remained within the target range for up to five additional hours each day—regardless of age, ethnicity, income level, or medication type.
