Trump halts sanctions on Russian oil
U.S. President Donald Trump waived sanctions imposed on Russia related to its oil revenues through an executive order that suspended the implementation of the Graham Law, which targets Russian energy and defense sectors, citing the national interest of the United States. This comes at a time of increasing tensions between Washington and Ukraine, especially after Trump announced an agreement with Moscow to resume Russian diesel exports and ease sanctions, sparking concerns in Kyiv about American withdrawal. Despite the European Union’s support for Ukraine and the designated aid, Kyiv faces a surge in Russian attacks on energy infrastructure and military targets, while continuing strikes within Russian territory, amid fears that the situation may deteriorate further during the winter.
