Mexico to file U S complaint over migrant death
Mexico's President, Claudia Sheinbaum, announced that her country will file an official complaint against the United States following the death of a Mexican citizen inside the Rio Grande detention center in Texas. This incident marks the 18th such death since January 2025 of Mexican detainees. She explained that the individual suffered from conditions such as diabetes and hypertension, and that their medications may not have been sufficiently available during detention. The Mexican government emphasized the need for a transparent investigation into the matter, reaffirming its stance against all forms of racism targeting its citizens abroad, and working to strengthen the protection of human rights for detained Mexicans.
