Saudi Arabia Launches Four New Innovation Systems
During a session chaired by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Saudi Cabinet approved four new intellectual property laws. These include laws related to patents, protection of plant varieties, layout designs of integrated circuits, and designs. The aim of these regulations is to strengthen the environment for creativity and innovation, improve legal protections for inventors, and facilitate the procedures for protecting designs in accordance with international standards. This aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals of developing a knowledge-based economy. Additionally, this step establishes an advanced legislative framework that enhances the country's regional and global standing, promotes research and development, and boosts the economic benefits derived from creative output.
