Israel exploits global focus to tighten Gaza blockade
The food crisis in Gaza continues to worsen despite more than a year having passed since the ceasefire agreement in October 2025. This is due to reductions in humanitarian aid and shortages of essential inputs such as flour and fuel, as well as ongoing Israeli restrictions on the entry of goods and provisioning materials. Israel has only permitted the entry of around 33.7% of the expected trucks, leading to the closure of many bakeries and a shortage of basic food items like potatoes, onions, and tomatoes. These restrictions exacerbate the humanitarian crisis and result in the deteriorating conditions of millions of Palestinians, who are suffering from severe food shortages and lack of basic needs—concerns that may intensify with the arrival of winter. Additionally, more than 90% of the infrastructure has been destroyed due to the recent war, leaving the sector entirely dependent on foreign aid.
