Aishwarya Rai appeared in several international films, including *Bride and Prejudice* (2004), *The Mistress of Spices* (2005), *Provoked* (2006), *The Last Legion* (2007), and *The Pink Panther 2* (2009). She also voiced Maleficent in the Hindi-dubbed version of *Maleficent: Mistress of Evil* (2019). She turned down the lead roles in *Mr. and Mrs. Smith*, opposite Brad Pitt, and *Hancock*, alongside Will Smith, because she was uncomfortable performing intimate scenes on camera. The roles later went to Angelina Jolie and Eva Mendes, respectively.
