Bangladesh reports increase in dengue deaths
Bangladesh enters October amid a rising outbreak of dengue fever, with September recording the highest number of deaths since the beginning of the year—148 deaths during the month and a total of 245 since January. Additionally, 79,620 people have been treated. Weather fluctuations and rainfall continue to facilitate the spread of the disease, putting extra pressure on hospitals that are already struggling to cope with the worst measles outbreak in the country. Experts warn that ongoing weather conditions could prolong the duration of the dengue outbreak in the coming months.
