Rome talks hinge on US and Israel discussions
The article discusses the developments related to Lebanon's negotiations with Israel over territories it controls, with the Lebanese state aiming to achieve new operational gains to halt Israeli operations and bolster the army's control. The upcoming meeting in Rome is linked to the outcomes of Trump and Netanyahu's talks in Washington, as Lebanon seeks international and regional pressure to stop aggressions and secure security stability. One of the main challenges is Hezbollah's obstruction of Lebanese efforts, especially regarding the dismantling of weapons depots. The Lebanese side emphasizes its commitment to previous understandings aimed at improving the situation on the ground and achieving political and security stability in the south. The meeting focuses on evaluating the results of pilot areas and determining new zones, with expectations that the outcomes of the Washington talks will influence the course of negotiations in Rome.
